STANDING UP
AGAINST HATE
Together with Berlin's business, academic and political communities, the Berlin-Partner-Network launched the "Berlin Against Anti-Semitism" initiative at the beginning of 2021 to show that hate and incitement have no place in a diverse, cosmopolitan and tolerant city like Berlin. As part of the initiative, both sustainable, internal company measures and high-profile campaigns are implemented to raise awareness of the issue of anti-Semitism among workforces, organizations and society. The hoped-for result is an increased mindfulness of discrimination that will eliminate any breeding ground for anti-Semitism.

"I CAN'T IMAGINE BERLIN AT ALL WITHOUT JEWISH PEOPLE FEELING COMPLETELY AT HOME HERE."
DR. STEFAN FRANZKE
CEO BERLIN PARTNER
WHY ARE YOU INVOLVED IN THE INITIATIVE?
Hatred and incitement have no place in a diverse, cosmopolitan and tolerant city like Berlin. It is our responsibility to increase vigilance against discrimination and to unequivocally oppose anti-Semitism.
WHAT ARE YOU ALREADY IMPLEMENTING AS A COMPANY?
Together with our Berlin Partner Network, we are planning independent projects and would like to implement high-profile actions as part of the initiative in order to send a signal from Berlin for diversity, respect and tolerance.
WHAT IS YOUR STATEMENT AGAINST ANTI-SEMITISM?
No German city has a larger Jewish community than Berlin. We are very proud and grateful for this and will do everything in our power to ensure that Jewish people feel completely at home in Berlin.

"ONLY WHEN WE OURSELVES UNDERSTAND DIVERSITY AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR LIVES CAN WE OPENLY EMBRACE OTHERS."
Christian Barthélémy
Chairman of the Management Board Vattenfall GmbH
Why is this initiative so important to you?
A colorful and diverse society is not only close to my personal heart, it is also a must for us as a company. Berlin is a city where all the world’s cultures meet. This is what makes the city such a great place to live and it is something we should defend with all our might.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Vattenfall has a clear strategy for promoting diversity and inclusion. We are convinced that this is the only way we can be successful as a company in the long term and it’s why we are focusing on internal exchange and dialogue, for example through our diversity networks, which also explicitly address issues such as religion in the workplace, discrimination or unconscious prejudice. Only when we ourselves understand diversity as an integral part of our lives can we openly embrace others.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism has no place in society - not in Berlin and not at Vattenfall. We stand for an open and pluralistic society in which everyone is welcome. But we also know that such a world does not come into being by itself. It has to be worked on every day. This is why we actively oppose discrimination of any kind.

"I WANT A BERLIN WHERE PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS ARE WELCOME AND FEEL SAFE."
Sara Nachama
Vice President Rector Touro College Berlin
Why are you involved in the initiative?
We are all called upon to take a stand against anti-Semitism and misanthropy. I would like to see a Berlin where people of all backgrounds and faiths are welcome and feel safe.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Touro College Berlin brings together students from all over the world. On our campus, we are one big community where background is important, but not crucial. Rather, we are a place of learning and friendly competition.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
The majority in this country, who want to live together in peace and mutual respect, will not let themselves be intimidated by those who flock to anti-Jewish demonstrations, incite on social media, and engage in ethnic-nationalist politics.

"IT IS OUR AND MY RESPONSIBILITY AS PRESIDENT OF THE BERLIN UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS TO PREVENT ANTI-SEMITISM IN ANY FORM."
Prof. Dr. Norbert Palz
President Berlin University of the Arts
Why is this initiative so important to you?
The commemoration of the Nazi crimes should not degenerate into a ritual of one's own self-reassurance, but should be reflected in daily actions and future planning. This is why I fully support the initiative "Berlin against Anti-Semitism".
What are you already implementing as a company?
The UdK Berlin takes an institution-critical perspective on its anti-Semitic past. For example, we are currently investigating the relationship between the architecture of the Nazi Olympic site and the artistic design by former teachers of our predecessor institutions.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism is responsible for the greatest inhumanities and crimes on German soil. It is our and my responsibility as President of the Berlin University of the Arts to prevent anti-Semitism in any form.

"AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WHO DRIVES INNOVATION, I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE CAN BECOME THE PERSON THEY WANT TO BE - REGARDLESS OF THEIR ORIGINAL BACKGROUND."
Mali M. Baum
CEO & Founder WLOUNGE
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Berlin against anti-Semitism - a movement that is urgently needed NOW.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Janusz Korczak, one of the most important educators of the last century and a pioneer of children's rights, once said: "If you want to change the world, you have to start with education."
My companies are endowed with one and the same DNA. The focus is on the individual and a big vision: Enabling people - especially the younger generation - opportunities and opening doors to new possibilities, changing mindsets, thinking and living diversity, access to capital and to networks, success and fulfillment in all areas of life.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
I am convinced that every person can become the person they want to be - regardless of their original background. The young generation is our future! They set the course for where Germany is headed - in the best case, towards a successful and inclusive society and culture.

"WHETHER JEW, MUSLIM, CHRISTIAN OR ATHEIST: WE ARE UNITED BY THE DESIRE FOR A COSMOPOLITAN AND PEACEFUL BERLIN, WHERE PEOPLE CAN LIVE WITHOUT FEAR."
Patrick Möller
Managing Director Wall GmbH
Why are you involved in the initiative?
For many decades, Wall has been visibly engaged nationwide against anti-Semitism and for an active culture of remembrance. It is part of our basic understanding that hatred and intolerance have no place in our society or in our company.
What are you already implementing as a company?
We support campaigns that oppose anti-Semitism and "forgetting," for example with the World Jewish Congress. We are a partner of the Jewish Culture Days Berlin and have brought remembrance culture right into the core of Berlin's everyday life with our memorials and memorial sites.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Whether Jew, Muslim, Christian or atheist: we are united by the desire for a cosmopolitan and peaceful Berlin, where people can live without fear. Preserving this freedom and showing indispensable solidarity with those who are threatened is a task that we are very happy to make our own.

"LEAVE NO ROOM FOR HATE AND DISCRIMINATION, NOT ANYWHERE."
Martin Fensch
Member of the Management Board Pfizer Germany
Why are you involved in the initiative?
It is important to us as a company to send a clear signal against hatred, racism, discrimination and exclusion.
What are you already implementing as a company?
We have long been committed to Jewish life and living memory in Berlin. Values such as diversity, equality and inclusion guide us both internally and externally. All Pfizer employees and our partners know that there is no place in our company for behavior that does not conform to these values.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Leave no room for hate and discrimination, not anywhere.

"ANTI-SEMITISM? DESTROYS LIVES. LIKE THAT OF ALICE SALOMON. GET INVOLVED FOR HUMAN DIGNITY, HUMAN RIGHTS, HUMANITY!"
Prof. Dr. Bettina Völter
Rector Alice Salomon University Berlin
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Because I take a clear stance against any form of anti-Semitism and I want to contribute this to the initiative. I also do this on behalf of the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences for Social Work, Health, Education and Training Berlin, which I direct.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Alice Salomon lost her position in 1933 and, as a Jew, had to leave Germany in 1937. ASH Berlin commemorates this history, has adopted an anti-discrimination statute, and is committed to the fighting any form of discrimination in teaching, research and transfer.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism is based on prejudice, half-knowledge, and too often hatred of something that is diffusely projected as the Other. I wish for fellow human beings who can deal with ambivalence, difference and open questions confidently and freely.

"ANTI-SEMITISM MUST HAVE NO PLACE IN A DIVERSE BERLIN - THAT'S WHAT I STAND FOR, BOTH PROFESSIONALLY AND PRIVATELY."
Prof. Dr. Ralf-Bruno Zimmermann
President of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin (KHSB)
Why is this initiative so important to you?
I am committed because the KHSB, as a public university under church sponsorship, is a place where, as an academic institution, anti-Semitism is not tolerated.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Through theoretical and practical academic work in courses as well as in research and transfer, we address the phenomenon of anti-Semitism both explicitly and implicitly.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism can have no place in a diverse Berlin - that's what I stand for, both professionally and privately.

"ANTI-SEMITISM, HATRED AND INTOLERANCE HAVE NO PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY."
Alexander Stotz
CEO Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Together with the other partners, we want to demonstrate socio-political responsibility and send a clear signal against anti-Semitism, discrimination and any form of group-based hostility - for more cohesion, openness and tolerance.
What are you already implementing as a company?
We are aware of our socio-political responsibility and support numerous initiatives that take a strong stand against xenophobia. Through our outdoor advertising media, we are sending a clear and decisive signal against discrimination, racism and xenophobia.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism, hatred and intolerance have no place in our society. That is why we are resolutely and actively committed to social cohesion and constructive exchange in a city as cosmopolitan as Berlin.

"WE WANT TO LIVE IN A CITY WHERE THERE IS A CLIMATE OF ACCEPTANCE AND TOLERANCE."
Gregor C. Blach
Managing Partner WE DO communication GmbH
Why are you involved in the initiative?
As a social communications agency with a diverse and international team, it goes without saying that marginalized groups need to be protected. We want to live in a city where a climate of acceptance and tolerance exists.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Our creative work is characterized by commitment. This includes, for example, campaigns for Amnesty International, Gesicht Zeigen!, the Berlin Council for Democracy, and our logo design for "Berlin against Anti-Semitism". We are also signatories to the Diversity Charter and active participants in the Diversity Challenge. Here, all employees spent three weeks intensively dealing with diversity.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Because of our special historical responsibility in Berlin, we have to take the ground out of the hands of anti-Semitism - as the bear in the new logo shows us. There is no place for hate, discrimination or violence in Berlin.

"WE ALL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO JOIN TOGETHER TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST HATE AND INCITEMENT, AND TO TAKE A STAND WHEN THE HUMAN DIGNITY OF OTHERS IS DISRESPECTED."
Tanja Böhm
Managing Director Corporate Affairs | Head of Microsoft Berlin
Why are you involved in the initiative?
We take the clear position that anti-Semitism is absolutely unacceptable and must have no place in our society. Diversity and inclusion have always been a high priority at Microsoft and are an integral part of our corporate culture.
What are you already implementing as a company?
As a company, we are clearly committed to strengthening and living a culture of inclusion, diversity and equal opportunity. This includes, for example, combating disadvantages based on origin, religion or gender, or our activities in the area of social participation and inclusion.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
We as a company, just as we as a society, must show that we will not tolerate any form of anti-Semitism. We all have the responsibility to raise our voices together against hatred and agitation and to take a stance when the human dignity of others is disregarded.

"THE IDENTITY OF BERLIN - THE FREEDOM, DIVERSITY AND VITALITY OF OUR CITY - IS INCONCEIVABLE WITHOUT JEWISH LIFE, WHICH HAS BEEN AT HOME HERE SINCE THE CITY WAS FOUNDED. ONLY TOGETHER ARE WE BERLIN."
David Weiblein
Managing Director BTB GmbH Berlin
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Silence expresses an attitude that we cannot join. The resurgence of anti-Semitism concerns us all and reminds us of our own responsibility for a free, cosmopolitan society. We bear these as a company, as citizens of Berlin and as people. We are putting all our energy into ensuring that Jewish people in Berlin find a climate of acceptance, appreciation and openness in which they can feel safe and at home.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental values for us to which we have committed ourselves in our corporate culture. We support initiatives internally and externally that promote equal opportunities and self-determined development and take human rights seriously.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Clearly recognize and call anti-Semitism out. Leave no room for hatred and easy answers.
Berlin's identity - the freedom, diversity and vitality of our city - is inconceivable without Jewish life, which has been at home here since the city was founded. Only together are we Berlin.

"ANTI-SEMITISM HAS NO PLACE IN OUR SOCIETY. WE AS A UNIVERSITY MUST SHOW THAT WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY FORM OF ANTI-SEMITISM IN THE FUTURE."
Prof. Dr. Gabriele Mielke
Vice President VICTORIA | International University - University of Applied Sciences
Why is this initiative so important to you?
Because the VICTORIA | International University has a clear stance against any form of anti-Semitism and demonstrates this in its socio-political and educational responsibility – also in that we want to contribute to this initiative.
What are you already implementing as a company?
We show that everyone is welcome here - regardless of faith, origin, skin color or sexual identity. Our university stands for diversity and openness, human dignity and tolerance as fundamental values of our society and for a colorful and peaceful university culture in teaching, research and transfer.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
We bear no responsibility for the past. But for the future! Anti-Semitism has no place in our society. We as a university and educational institution must show that we will not tolerate any form of anti-Semitism in the future.

"THE CULTURAL WEALTH OF BERLIN IS UNTHINKABLE WITHOUT THE CULTURAL WEALTH OF JEWISH INFLUENCE."
Prof. Dr. Philipp Bouteiller
Managing Director Tegel Projekt GmbH
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Berlin stands for freedom and tolerance like no other city. Personally, I have had the privilege of making great friends here in particular, through whom I have come to know and appreciate the richness and diversity of Jewish culture. Without this culture, Berlin would be a poorer place. Anti-Semitism must never be allowed to gain space here again. That is why we support this initiative.
What are you already implementing?
We live diversity and tolerance. This has been a central part of our management culture from the very beginning. Our project stands for innovation and that arises from a deep inner drive to want to do things better. To do this, we need like-minded and strong partners, which we can find worldwide, especially in Tel Aviv and New York.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
The cultural wealth of Berlin is unthinkable without the cultural wealth of Jewish influence.

"OUTSIDE AND INSIDE SPORT, THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ANTI-SEMITISM OR ANY OTHER FORM OF DISCRIMINATION."
Martin Häner
national field hockey player, Landessportbund Berlin e. V.
Why are you involved in the initiative?
As an athlete, I would like to contribute to ensuring that the values that are already lived out in sport are also strengthened and implemented outside.
What are you already implementing?
Back in 2015, as a sponsor of the European Maccabi Games in Berlin, I worked to raise awareness of respect and tolerance through sport.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Sport has the great quality to strengthen and unite important values in life. Through it, community, respect, integration and recognition, among other things, can be created and strengthened. In addition, bridges can be built where political obstacles would otherwise be difficult to overcome.

"ANTI-SEMITISM AND ANY HATRED AGAINST HUMAN BEINGS MUST NO LONGER PLAY A ROLE IN OUR ENLIGHTENED CENTURY."
Thomas Bothstede
Managing Director EHC Eisbären Management GmbH
Why are you involved in the initiative?
As a Berlin club, we automatically have a historical responsibility to actively lead the way against anti-Semitism and to signal this to the outside world.
What are you already implementing as a club?
As Eisbären Berlin, it is important to us to annually commemorate the Holocaust and the terrible deeds that occurred during the Third Reich.
An exchange with various projects also takes place within this framework and on other focal points. We are particularly proud of the fact that our fans are also addressing the issue, giving it a greater foundation.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
If a person decides to visit Eisbären home games, he or she should be able to enjoy the unique atmosphere including all emotions without any fear. We are a club that is open to all people and thus promotes the cultural diversity that exists in Berlin, including in our stands.
Anti-Semitism and any hatred against people must no longer play a role in our enlightened century.

"ONLY IN A DEMOCRATIC AND OPEN SOCIETY CAN WE LIVE WELL AND SECURELY IN THE FUTURE. HATRED AND INCITEMENT HARM US ALL."
Georg Friedrichs
Chairman of the Management Board GASAG AG
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Anti-Semitism was an essential part of an inhuman ideology that brought much suffering and millions of deaths to the world. After 1945, we built a stable democracy on our fundamental rights. However, safeguarding and strengthening fundamental rights such as religious freedom remain an ongoing task. And this includes - especially in Germany - the safeguarding of religious freedom and the development of a vibrant Jewish life. We promote diversity in the GASAG Group. And diversity means everyone, regardless of origin, religion or sexual orientation.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Our commitment to diversity ranges from communicating the intercultural holiday calendar and diversity campaigns to actively integrating refugees into our apprenticeships. Strengthening diversity consistently may not always be convenient, but it is the only path to continued success and motivated employees.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism must have no place in our society, ever again. Each and every one of us must take a stand against discrimination. I'm in.

"ANTI-SEMITISM AND RACISM HAVE NO PLACE IN SPORTS AND OUR SOCIETY!"
Mathias Niederberger
goalkeeper of the Eisbären Berlin
Why are you involved in the initiative?
As a professional athlete, you have a certain platform in the public eye. I like to use these to draw attention to really important things in society. Active education and taking a stand against anti-Semitism and racism raises all our awareness of it and prevents it from spreading.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Every year, the Eisbären Berlin commemorate the terrible deeds committed during the Third Reich. I think that's a good and extremely important thing. Our fans are also very active here, which makes me particularly proud.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism and racism have no place in sports and our society!

"WE ARE ALL CALLED UPON TO STAND UP AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY, DIVERSITY AND PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE. ANTI-SEMITISM MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO FIND A BREEDING GROUND."
Gabriele Hahnemann
Director | Market Area Manager Corporate Clients Berlin-Northwest, Deutsche Bank AG
Why are you involved in the initiative?
We want to be actively involved because it is important to keep the lessons of history alive. There must be no place for anti-Semitism in our society. That's why we stand up for diversity and tolerance every day anew with our employees in Berlin, Germany and around the world.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Deutsche Bank is a member of the Friends of Yad Vashem. It supports the laying of "Stolpersteine" (stumbling stones) in memory of victims of the Holocaust, including employees of the bank and their relatives. The bank sponsors the Brandenburg Freedom Award. The Deutsche Bank Foundation supports an outreach programme of the Jewish Museum in Berlin that specifically targets young people.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism remains dangerous. Deutsche Bank has signed a declaration against anti-Semitism and racism with four other companies in 2021. We are all called upon to stand up again and again for freedom, democracy, diversity and peaceful coexistence.

"JEWISH LIFE BELONGS TO BERLIN. ANTI-SEMITISM HAS NO PLACE IN OUR COMPANY OR IN OUR COSMOPOLITAN CITY."
Kerstin Oster, Executive Vice President Human Resources and Social Affairs
Frank Bruckmann, Chief Financial Officer Berliner Wasserbetriebe
Why are you involved in the initiative?
Valuing and treating everyone equally is part of Wasserbetriebe's DNA - and part of what makes this city worth living in.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Where our corporate headquarters now stand was once the linen factory of Moritz Rosenthal, who was murdered in Auschwitz in 1944. This gives us a special responsibility, which is why we are committed to the "Diversity Charter" and ensure that our employees act in a spirit of partnership.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Jewish life is part of Berlin. Anti-Semitism has no place in our company or in our cosmopolitan city.

"ANTI-SEMITISM AFFECTS EVERY ONE OF US BECAUSE IT ATTACKS THE BASIC CONSENSUS: ALL PEOPLE ARE EQUAL, THEIR DIGNITY IS INVIOLABLE!"
Prof. Günter M. Ziegler
President of Freie Universität Berlin
Why is this initiative so important to you?
Anti-Semitism attacks our image of humanity - the fundamental belief that all people are equal and that human dignity must be inviolable. Therefore, we must not tolerate discrimination against people. No one is to be discriminated against or treated unequally on the basis of faith, gender, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin. It is made clear time and again that this is by no means a matter of course. This makes it all the more important to point this out clearly, over and over again.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Trust in common values, i.e. in the fact that all people are equal and that human dignity must be inviolable, is the basis of living together in our society and especially of research and teaching at a university.
Anti-Semitism is generally not tolerated at The Freie Universität. We regard the equal participation of all people as part of our social responsibility. This is central to how we see ourselves and therefore how we present ourselves: From the very beginning, The Freie Universität has been deeply committed to the values of a democratic society with "freedom" in its name and with the values of truth, justice, and freedom in its seal. This has remained central to us over the decades and is also now visible, for example, in our diversity concept, with which we are pursuing the goal of creating a discrimination-free university environment, among other things - and we are in the process of expanding the structures that safeguard this.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Anti-Semitism affects each of us because it attacks the basic consensus: all people are equal, their dignity is inviolable!

"BERLIN IS COMMITTED TO WORKING TOGETHER AGAINST ALL ANTI-SEMITISM - AND FOR JEWISH LIFE TO BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED IN OUR COSMOPOLITAN CITY."
apl. Prof. Dr. Samuel Salzborn
Contact Person of the State of Berlin on Anti-Semitism
Why are you involved in the initiative?
The fight against anti-Semitism requires broad alliances: the "Berlin against Anti-Semitism" initiative combines the forces of many Berlin companies and thus significantly broadens the commitment against anti-Semitism.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Since 2019, the state of Berlin has had a state concept for the further development of anti-Semitism prevention, which as a cross-departmental concept is based on the pillars of prevention - intervention - repression and combating anti-Semitism at all levels.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Berlin is committed to working together against all anti-Semitism - and for Jewish life to be taken for granted in our cosmopolitan city.

"WE MUST SET OUT OUR STALL AGAINST HATE AND DISCRIMINATION. ANTI-SEMITISM HAS NO PLACE IN COSMOPOLITAN BERLIN."
Jeannine Koch
Chairwoman of the Board media:net berlinbrandenburg e.V.
Why are you involved in the initiative?
The diverse society shapes the image of our city - an important part of it is the Jewish culture. We must take a clear stand against hatred, discrimination and violence, especially in view of our historical responsibility.
What are you already implementing as a company?
As a networking association for the creative and digital industries, strengthening the location is our concern. This includes an active commitment to initiatives that promote the cornerstones of our corporate culture, diversity, openness and tolerance.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
Inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunity are fundamental values that must be protected. It is one of our most important tasks to always stand up for a free, colorful, democratic and peaceful co-existence.

“WE WILL DO EVERYTHING TO ENSURE THAT THE JEWISH CITIZENS CAN LIVE IN THIS CITY WITHOUT FEAR.”
CARSTEN JUNG
CEO BERLINER VOLKSBANK EG
Why are you committed to the initiative?
This initiative deserves support from everybody for whom humanity, tolerance, placidity and consideration of the individual are the steadfast foundation of our free society. We must be courageous and determined against anti-Semitism, intolerance, nationalism, agitators and the threat of dissidents. With this initiative, everybody has the opportunity and, in fact, also the obligation to actively contribute to this. The team from the Berliner Volksbank and myself as CEO are thankful that we can support this initiative.
What are you already implementing as a company?
Diversity as well as the condemnation of all forms of discrimination and exclusion are already firmly rooted in our current company culture at the Berliner Volksbank. We are finding new opportunities over and over again to strive for an open, tolerant and diverse society.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
When I look out over the rooftops of Berlin and see the golden dome of the synagogue in the centre of Berlin, it fills me with joy and commitment for the Jewish community and the Jewish population in this city. But the sight of the dome is also a warning that we need to do everything to ensure that Jewish citizens can live in this city without fear and as an intrinsic part of the society. Never again may we see the darkest part of this city’s history repeated. The dome of the synagogue must shine forever.

“IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR DUE TO ANTI-SEMITIC BEHAVIOUR. THAT’S WHY WE TAKE A STANCE FOR PEACEFUL TOGETHERNESS.”
DANIEL TEICHERT
CEO AT AOK NORDOST - DIE GESUNDHEITSKASSE
Why are you committed to the initiative?
Around 5,000 people from 30 nations with various religions work at AOK Nordost. Tolerance and diversity are a given for daily cooperation. We have been committed to this in Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for many years, even beyond our work in statutory health insurance.
What are you already implementing as a company?
“We are here for everybody”, this motto is a part of our company philosophy. We represent the values associated with this internally and in contact with our customers. We promote integration through sport, stand up against homophobia and support initiatives for more tolerance in society.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
It is unacceptable that people have to live in fear due to anti-Semitic behaviour. That’s why we take a stance for peaceful togetherness.

“LIFE IS A GIFT TO EVERY PERSON ON THIS PLANET. ACCEPTING THE GIFT OF LIFE MEANS WISHING TO LIVE PEACEFULLY WITH ONE ANOTHER.”
MARC MUNDSTOCK
MANAGING DIRECTOR AXICA CONGRESS AND CONFERENCE CENTER
Why are you committed to the initiative?
These days, anti-Semitism stands much more for unjustifiable hatred towards people.
Life is a gift to every person on the planet. Nothing can explain or justify denying this gift, this life to somebody, even questioning their very existence. With the gift of life we are given a moment of time to live our lives. In a community of donees. Accepting the gift of life means wishing to live peacefully with one another. That should be the most important thank you for us for this fantastic gift.
What are you already implementing as a company?
We are audited for the common good; we question our values, because we contribute to society with what we do. We have signed the diversity charter in order to send a visible sign to the world. We are a group of different people with different origins, many paths, thoughts and interpretations of life, united by one thing: we believe in the importance of meeting.
What is your statement against anti-Semitism?
I’ll never forget the day I first held my child. So much life.
It is unimaginable to pass on a world dominated by hate, war and anti-Semitism to our children and grandchildren. A good future is a time into which we want to be born.
