BERLIN AT THE HANNOVER MESSE 2023

21. April 2023 – This year, the capital region Berlin-Brandenburg has presented itself at a total of four joint booths with innovative companies and projects at HANNOVER MESSE, the world's most important leading trade fair for the industry. At the "Additive Manufacturing Berlin" booth, the capital city has focused on a forward-looking technology - Additive Manufacturing.

With AMBER (Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg), an innovation network and a new regional umbrella brand are being created on behalf of the Berlin Senate with significant participation from Berlin Partner. The aim is to create a platform for players from business and science to develop regionally available competencies and synergies. Berlin will thus become a showroom and a testing ground for new production technologies, innovative value networks, and a catalyst for the rapid transfer of research results into sustainable, internationally competitive innovations.

Six companies have presented technological innovations from the capital at the Berlin booth D16 in hall 16:

The companies demonstrated the range of Additive Manufacturing with exciting and interactive exhibits - from personalised medical technology to industrial robotics. Visitors could learn how to use a patented, collaborative palletising system or simulate the production of an orthosis printed from recyclable or compostable materials in a 3D scanner.

A highlight of the trade fair activities was 20 April: on this day, Economics Senator Stephan Schwarz and Dr. Stefan Franzke, CEO from Berlin Partner, also travelled to Hannover - with a full programme of visits to the joint Berlin-Brandenburg booth, a tour of the trade fair and discussions with companies.

The content of the day has focused on two exciting panels at the Berlin booth: at 2 p.m. there was a discussion on the topic "Towards an Industry 4.FUTURE! How do we get there? On innovations, skills, and transformation".

At 4:30 p.m. the topic was "#AMBerlin: The capital as an innovation driver in Additive Manufacturing". The panelists were Economics Senator Stephan Schwarz, Dr. Katharina Eissing, Co-Founder 1000 Kelvin, and Dr. Cynthia Wirth, Head of Innovation & Digitalisation for Additive Manufacturing at Siemens Energy. The discussion was moderated by David Hampel, Head of Industrial Production at Berlin Partner. "I am incredibly impressed by the innovation and acceleration of technology and application that we see here," said Senator Schwarz. "Both companies here are important models in the ecosystem and drivers for transformation in Berlin. We need to invest in skilled workers, foster networks, and train talents so that we can create real value in the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region."

The penultimate day of the trade fair ended with the sociable #AMBerlin get-together at the Berlin booth in the presence of Economics Senator Stephan Schwarz and with musical and culinary specialties "Made in Berlin".
