A futuristic idea: Exoskeletons

Lifting or carrying heavy goods without much effort and protecting the body in the process: Is this what the future of work looks like? With so-called exoskeletons, the future is already possible today. Exoskeletons are a combination of medicine and robotics and offer noticeable relief when lifting, carrying or other strenuous activities.

Exoskeletons, also known as robotic suits, are a support structure that fits close to the body and can be used in a versatile way in many professions. They offer good support for health-conscious work. The human organism benefits immensely from these external support structures: By relieving the strain on the muscles, they protect the back, shoulders, arms and legs.

In order to promote technologies in this field and to initiate new projects, Berlin Partner has invited developers and users of “human-centred support systems” to a networking event on 7.9.2022. The aim is to network industrial and logistics companies, technology providers and research institutions from the capital region. In doing so, we were able to get a glimpse of how industry & logistics can take advantage of #exoskeletons.

There was great interest in the event, with around 70 stakeholders from the capital region registering. Among the participants were representatives of companies that have developed exoskeletons, universities and research institutions, as well as industrial and logistics companies from the region. Participants were able to take a look at how industry & logistics can make use of #exoskeletons. There was also the opportunity to try out exoskeletons on site.

We would like to thank all our speakers for the lively discussion: Ottobock Bionic Exoskeletons (co-host), Carl Stahl Hebetechnik GmbH, Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung e.V. (DGUV), Fraunhofer IPK, German Bionic, Human.VR.Lab (Berlin University of Applied Sciences), MotorSkins, Müller-Zeiner Industrieverpackungen GmbH, Logistiknetz Berlin-Brandenburg (LNBB).
