InnoTrans 2022

Trade visitors have expected more world innovations than ever before at InnoTrans from 20-23 September 2022. Around 250 world premieres were presented by the international exhibitors at the 13th edition of the leading trade fair for transport technology in Berlin, which takes place every two years in the capital.

As one of the important competence centres for railway technology and the host region of the trade fair, Berlin-Brandenburg was again represented this year with a joint stand on site. On more than 1200 square metres, 91 companies and institutions from the capital region presented themselves to a total of 140,000 trade visitors. It was highly attractive for companies from Berlin and Brandenburg to meet the international industry virtually on their own doorstep. The motto “The Future of Mobility” was the theme of the program.

This year, Berlin-Brandenburg was focusing, among other things, on women in this industry. Female executives met again this year at the WIM Luncheon. With the motto “female.vision of mobility”, specific infrastructure projects related to the use of means of transport by women were presented in two world cafés at the joint Berlin-Brandenburg stand.

As part of the InnoTrans BUSINESS DAYS, which took place at the same time, the Enterprise Europe Network Berlin-Brandenburg in cooperation with Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenburg GmbH and Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH offered visitors free B2B matchmaking meetings, interesting panel discussions and lectures, as well as the opportunity to exchange ideas with exhibitors. They were supported by the Berlin-Brandenburg Traffic, Mobility and Logistics Cluster and the ERCI European Railway Clusters Initiative ASBL (ERCI). On 22 September, Berlin State Secretary Tino Schopf and Brandenburg State Secretary Hendrik Fischer jointly opened the state reception of the capital region, which was held as part of InnoTrans with 600 guests.

In addition to the exciting programme at the Berlin & Brandenburg booth, numerous specialist conferences and forums on the latest technologies were also held at InnoTrans. For example, the Hyperloop Conference 2022 on 23.9.2022 was the first international conference on the topic of high-speed transport. The Hyperloop is a high-speed transport system under development, often named as the fifth mode of transport (alongside train, plane, ship and car). A Hyperloop consists of a tube in which capsules can travel at up to 1,200 kilometres per hour. The main drive is electric. A magnetic field is generated in the tube, which sucks the capsules through the tube and accelerates them strongly.
