A change at the top of the supervisory board

Dr. Andreas Eckert to become the new chairman of the supervisory board of Berlin Partner

Starting from December 1, 2014, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology will have a new chairman of the supervisory board. Dr. Andreas Eckert will succeed Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Günter Stock.

Being the chairman of the executive board of Eckert & Ziegler Strahlen- und Medizintechnik AG, the new chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Andreas Eckert, has many years of international experience as an entrepreneur. “By introducing Dr. Eckert, we are welcoming an accomplished and committed entrepreneur from Berlin to the top of the board. Dr. Eckert will advance the business location Berlin using his broad expertise in innovation management, startup promotion and internationalization of companies”, says Cornelia Yzer, deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board and Senator for Economics, Technology and Research. Dr. Andreas Eckert set himself the goal of shaping the optimistic spirit of the city in his new office: “After Berlin has again assumed a nationwide pioneering role in important sectors for the first time since 70 years, I would like to help stabilizing and strengthening this awakening and the self-confidence related to it”, stresses Dr. Andreas Eckert.

Prof. Günter Stock priorly served as the chairman of the supervisory board of the economic development corporation for nearly two years and has implemented the merger between Berlin Partner and TSB Innovation Agency. “Since the 1990s, Berlin pursued an exceptionally consequent course regarding the cooperation between business, science and politics. Berlin’s strengths have been identified and pooled in fields of expertise, the clusters have been defined. The merger was the next important step on this course. Since the process has been successfully completed, I hand over my duties into new hands”, says Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Günter Stock. Senator for Economics Cornelia Yzer expresses gratitude for his commitment: “As the chairman of the supervisory board, Prof. Stock decisively shaped Berlin Partner with his valuable knowledge of the business and science landscape. His outstanding commitment during the merger helped succeeding in establishing a successful, integrated technology promotion for Berlin.”

As the chairman of the supervisory board of Berlin Partner for Business and Technology, Dr. Andreas Eckert is also a member of the supervisory board of the Berlin Partners Holding Capital City Marketing Ltd. which represents around 200 private partners of the company. Thus, the cooperation of the private and the public sector is consolidated in the public-private partnership. “Having an entrepreneurial perspective, Prof. Stock was always committed to the concerns of the private partners. Now we are looking forward to a trustful cooperation with Dr. Eckert. Being an entrepreneur with a strong commitment for the location, he is familiar with the needs of the private sector and will authentically position Berlin in the international competition”, says Dr. Holger Hatje, chairman of the supervisory board of Berlin Partners Holding.
