Semi-annual financial statements of Berlin Partner for Business and Technology

The positive trend continues – the business location Berlin booms

The business location Berlin is becoming more and more attractive. This positive development is shown by Berlin Partner for Business and Technology in the semi-annual financial statements for 2014: Berlin Partner has assisted companies in creating a total of 2,396 jobs. Around 270 million euros have been invested in 102 projects.

Increasing number of high-tech jobs in Berlin
More and more investment-heavy jobs are created in Berlin – especially in the field of high-tech. “In the meantime, every third job in the industry and three out of four euros are invested in industrial jobs, thus meaning that the industry invests a quarter million euros per job”, said Melanie Bähr, Managing Director of Berlin Partner for Business and Technology. One particular success story is the company Hella Aglaia investing 8.3 million euros in research and development and creating 10 new jobs.

Furthermore, effective campaigns for the business location Berlin have been launched by be Berlin in the first half-year. The goal is to position Berlin as an internationally attractive location. Around 2.4 billion contacts worldwide have been established by more than 330 international events as well as numerous social media campaigns and comprehensive media campaigns

Outlook: focus on international networking
For further international networking, particularly between startups, it is planned to make a delegation trip with the Senator for Economics, Cornelia Yzer, and around 15 startups for the Transatlantic En-trepreneurship Partnership Conference in New York. “The international conference brings together startups from all over the world and promotes the cooperation between the startup metropolises Berlin and New York. This is also a good opportunity to demonstrate the location advantages of Ber-lin to international venture capital providers and founders as well as to win them over for our city”, said Dr. Stefan Franzke, Managing Director of Berlin Partner for Business and Technology.

Another campaign in the second half-year is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 2014. Under the motto “25 years fall of the wall – 25 stories”, Berlin Partner gathers exciting stories by companies that helped shaping Berlin and presents them to the public.

As a public-private partnership, Berlin Partner creates synergies for the business location. The Berlin Partners are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. What has started out with 21 partners in 1994 has grown into a network of 227 partners. Berlin Partners presents the German capital as an attractive location for business, science and technology, creative capital, culture and sports metrop-olis. Ever since, numerous campaigns have been successfully and innovatively implemented on behalf of the state of Berlin, represented by the Senate Chancellery and the economic administration and supported by private partners from business.
