30 years of Partner für Berlin

30 years of partnership – 30 years for Berlin.

This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Partner für Berlin and look back on three decades full of events, changes and ideas! Where shall we start? By introducing the Supervisory Board members of Partner für Berlin Holding, letting them talk about their moments and sharing their view of Berlin.

Three questions, three answers – today with ...

Helmut Schramm, Head of Production at BMW Motorrad and member of the Supervisory Board of Partner für Berlin Holding Gesellschaft für Hauptstadt-Marketing mbH

What do you see as the most important impetus for Berlin’s economy, can you give us an example, a milestone?

Creative future planning and robust sustainability characterise Berlin’s economy. As one of the largest and most traditional production companies in the region, we are proud to contribute to expanding further the attractiveness of our industrial location. Bold investments in innovative technologies and the promotion of new business ideas are relevant impulses. The aim is to create incentives for companies, science, investors and skilled labour. And a milestone that we are particularly proud of? Last year, we welcomed more new colleagues to our factory team than ever before, with over 300 new recruitments. The BMW Group is thus making a clear commitment to Berlin as a strong business location.

With clear visions, great commitment and a great deal of sensitivity, the network has been providing important impetus for Berlin’s growth for 30 years. Do you have a key personal experience or success story that has shaped you?

The decisive factor for Berlin’s growth is the interaction of business, science and political framework conditions to achieve an overall optimum. The Berlin Partner platform is so influential because it successfully brings together the diverse economic structure of the federal capital under one roof. The network is characterised by open and pragmatic cooperation. Berlin Partner plays a central role in supporting valuable funding projects and initiates exchange platforms based on needs and topics. The current unity of the network for the future organisation of energy management – for me personally, this is a key moment for the future!

How do you get the city moving?

As a driver of technology and innovation, we at BMW Group Berlin Plant stand for forward-looking production in the capital and as such we also move Berlin – innovatively, digitally and flexibly. And how do we move Berliners and the capital specifically? With our BMW motorbikes, of course!
