Startup and technology trade fair VivaTech 2024

Berlin, 23 May 2024 – It is one of the largest European events for startups and technology: Viva Technology will be held in Paris from 22 to 25 May 2024. Reason enough for Berlin Partner to organise a delegation trip to the French capital. Also on board: 18 Berlin startups from different areas that will represent the Spree metropolis at the trade fair there. Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, will also visit VivaTech to promote Berlin as a startup location.

Overall, the German capital has built up a successful startup ecosystem that is ahead of the rest of Europe. Around a fifth of all new startups in Germany are founded in Berlin. In the European ranking, the Startup Heatmap Europe, Berlin is in second place after London in 2023. The digital economy is a particular strength of the Berlin startup ecosystem. One in five new jobs in the capital is developed in this sector; between 2008 and 2022 alone, over 100,000 jobs were created in over 5,000 companies in the digital economy.

The delegation that is now on site vividly covers the broad spectrum of the Berlin startup scene: FinTech, Artificial Intelligence, last-mile logistics, healthcare and many other focal points are included. These are the startups: SkinTech Corp GmbH, EVA GmbH, Brighter AI Technologies GmbH, Tegel Projekt GmbH, AGENTS.inc GmbH, Polit-X, Vertama GmbH, ZAUBAR UG, wealthAPI GmbH, Checktur.io GmbH, Cerpro GmbH, RAVE.SPACE GmbH, Luxoom Medienprojekte GmbH, Possible Digital GmbH, key2contract GmbH, PaketConcierge GmbH, NAO Co-Investment GmbH and Hive Technologies GmbH.

A visit to Paris is always worthwhile, they say. Substantial figures prove that this also applies to VivaTech: The 2023 event welcomed more than 150,000 participants, 11,400 startups and 2,800 exhibitors. Like last year, numerous visitors from all over the world are expected again this year. In addition to a diverse and varied conference programme with international speakers such as Elon Musk, Serena & Venus Williams, Charles Michel, John Kerry and Matthias Döpfner, the trade fair offers space and formats for getting to know innovations, discussing challenges, exchanging ideas and sharing inspiration.

The participants from Berlin will have the opportunity to take part in a varied supporting programme around VivaTech organised by Berlin Partner. This includes a visit to the trade fair, but also events such as pitching sessions, the German Startup Night or a get-together. Free slots offer the opportunity to meet (potential) partners, customers or clients and make contacts. And that confirms it once again: Paris is always a good idea.

The delegation trip is part of the internationalisation project Berlin Goes International, which is carried out by Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH and funded by the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. The aim is to support Berlin’s economy and in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs for short) in their internationalisation and the acquisition of strategic cooperation and network partners in Berlin’s most important target markets.
