Carsten Jung is the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Berlin Partner

From 1 September 2022, Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie has a new Chairman of the Supervisory Board: Carsten Jung succeeds Michael Biel, State Secretary in the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. The 55-year-old was unanimously elected by the other members of the Supervisory Board for the next five years.

As Chairman of the Board of Berliner Volksbank eG, Carsten Jung brings with him many years of experience in the capital region. Carsten Jung has already been a member of the Supervisory Boards of Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH and Partner für Berlin Holding Gesellschaft für Hauptstadt-Marketing mbH since June 2018, which represents the approximately 230 private partners of the company. The cooperation of politics and administration with partners from the private sector is a unique success story in the field of economic development and city marketing.

Dr Stefan Franzke, Managing Director of Berlin Partner: “I would like to thank Michael Biel for taking over the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the past few months. At the same time, I am looking forward to working with Carsten Jung, who has been associated with Berlin Partner for many years and, as a native Berliner, knows the dynamics of the city well. Berlin Partner stands for cooperation between business, politics and administration. Together we have achieved a lot and have made our contribution to the fact that Berlin continues to be so attractive to numerous companies and talented people from all over the world. Berlin has just been voted the best start-up location in Europe for the second time in a row in a survey of more than 24,000 founders. This gives us additional tailwind and yet we know that there is still a lot to do. I am therefore looking forward to the good and trusting cooperation with Carsten Jung.”

Carsten Jung, Chairman of the Board of Berliner Volksbank: “I am pleased about the election as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie and the confirmation of trust. This voluntary work is also a personal concern for me: I have been a member of the Supervisory Board since June 2018 and am aware of the importance and energy of Berlin Partner for the city and the local economy, especially over the past years. I would like to continue to contribute here in the future.”

Stephan Schwarz, Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises: “I am pleased that the Supervisory Board has elected Carsten Jung as Chairman today, who represents the Berlin Partner idea in an outstanding way. Carsten Jung has many years of experience in the committees of our business development, he is both professionally and personally an extremely committed supporter of our business and innovation location and a partner for our city par excellence. I congratulate Carsten Jung on this election and wish him every success in his new role.”
